Beaches and Baseball

I spent Saturday going to Glenelg, (palindrome!) a little beach town at the end of the tram line. I think it is where I plan to stay when I come back in January. Glenelg is about 25 minutes by tram from CBD (Center Business District, too many acronyms!). It should be a nice place this summer... We may stay there when the rest of the family comes in June... Here are some pictures:

Sunday I spent time with Paul Howe and his two children. Paul is my coworker at SKM. Pauls 13-year-old son Matt had a baseball game (yes, American baseball!) and Paul was score keeper. I took some pictures of the game:

After the game (the Cardinals, Matt's team, soundly defeated their opponent...) Paul had me over to their house for a visit. Unfortunately I didn't get pictures there... next time. They live in the hills above Adelaide and just below Mt. Lofty, the highest point in South Australia. I'll get pictures the next time I'm there. Paul and Ellen (his 10-year-old daughter) took me to the top of Mt. Lofty. You could see the whole of Adelaide and the ocean from the top (again pictures next time). We had a wonderful meal (some local Riesling and steaks on the barby). Appearently the idea of shrimp on the barby is not Aussie. Pauls wife, Karen, was away, so I did not get to meet her. But Pauls cooking sufficed and the afternoon/evening was delightful.

Well now Shane, it seems like Paul is going to give Pat a run for her money! Steaks and local Aussie wine, I think in honor of you we should all try that this weekend!

Go Phillies!!!!

You get that lost day back on your return. I once had an extended Christmas crossing the dateline on my way home from Asia. Things look good over there - best of luck

Ok, more photo questions - how far down is the water where those kids are jumping? It looks like 30 feet, which is, well, a lot.

It was pretty high... more than 20 feet. There was a sign that said 'no diving'. The jumpers were in flagrant violation, but there were lots of them. Maybe jumping isn't diving? Anyway, some would climb up on the pile to jump, maybe 10 feet higher...
